\n\t\tFour Creative Thinking Methods<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tCreativity is something that everyone has. Everyone hopes for ideas when they are writing or making a proposal. Still, flashes of genius account for just 5% of all creativity so there are other techniques for tapping into your creativity. These can be divided into generation techniques and convergence techniques, with the most frequently used ones listed below.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n

\n\t\tGeneration Method – Card Brainstorming<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tCard Brainstorming (CBS) is suitable for handling inputs from multiple people and is also the most commonly used technique for group ideas sessions. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t\"\"<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\n\t\tRules<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Delay judgment, impose no limits, generate as many as ideas as possible, take a broad view, joint development<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 1<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Everyone prepares post-it notes, pen and A4 paper. Place 3 ~ 4 sheets of A3 paper in the middle of the meeting.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 2<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Define the theme to brainstorm.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 3<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Set 5 minutes as the brainstorming time. Within this period, have everyone write all of their ideas on post-it notes and stick them to their A4 paper.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 4<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> After 5 minutes, have everyone present the ideas they wrote on the post-it notes. Read post-it notes are then stuck to the A3 paper in the middle of the meeting.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 5<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Look at all the ideas on the A3 paper in the middle while listening to other people express their thoughts. If a new idea strikes you, write it on a post-it note and stick it to your piece of A4 paper to be presented later.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 6<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> If someone has nothing to add then they can pass. If more than two people pass however then hold a 5-minute brainstorming session. After 5 minutes, start again from the people that passed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 7<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> The process can finish after 1 hour. If there are any post-it notes that have not yet been presented then place them on the A3 paper in the middle.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tGeneration Method – Mandala<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tThe Mandala method is based on the 3×3 square. Radiant thinking is carried out using the topic in the middle, so the Mandala method is also known as the 9-square method.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\n\t\tStep 1<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Draw a 3×3 square and write the topic in the middle.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 2<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Write all of your ideas and thoughts inspired by the topic in the surrounding 8 squares.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 3<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Once all of the squares have been filled, pick any idea in one of the surrounding 8 squares then expand it into a new 3×3 square. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t <\/p>\n

\n\t\tConvergence Method – Block Technique<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\"\"<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tThe block technique is a convergence method for organizing creative ideas. After ideas have been generated with the CBS method, use the block method to organize the ideas written on the cards\/post-it notes.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\n\t\tStep 1<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Collect the post-it notes written with ideas from the CBS method.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 2<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Organize the ideas on the cards\/post-it notes into different blocks.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 3<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Define a title for each block. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\t\tConvergence Method – Fish Bone<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tAs the name suggests, the graph used in Fish Bone is very similar to fish bones. It is the most practical method for identifying the key factors involved for a particular topic or problem.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\n\t <\/div>\n

\n\t\tStep 1<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Define the topic then write it on the right hand side where the fish head is.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 2<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Use CBS to find the reasons for the problem. Primary causes should be written where the ribs are with secondary causes branching off the ribs.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 3<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Stick all of the post-it notes on to the fish bone graph then analyze the fish bone to identify the main causes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tStep 4<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Use the fish bone graph to find the cause of the problem. Next, identify the most important causes and develop a solution. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\t\tFive Tools for Creative Thinking<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tAs they say, you need the right tools for the job. Before we let our imagination go wild we need tools to record our flashes of inspiration. Here G!VOICE <\/em>introduces a few tools that help with the creative process.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\n\tCreativity Tool 2 – Voice Recorder<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\"\"Purpose<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> If you are in a situation where you can't hold a pen such as in a vehicle, in the restroom, holding something in your hands while standing in the street, an idea strikes you while you are lying in bed at night and don’t feel like to turn on the lights… recording your thoughts with a voice recorder makes sure you don't miss a thing.<\/span><\/div>\n

\n\t\tCreativity Tool 3—Digital Camera<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\"\"Purpose<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Some ideas aren't easy to write down. A digital camera can be used to capture an image as a source for inspiration.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\t\tAdvantage<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> An image-inspired idea is more persuasive, data can be saved to computer, can be incorporated into a webpage or proposal.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tDisadvantage<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> It's inconvenient converting image into text, battery may run out . <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\t\tCreativity Tool 4 – Mobile Phone<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\"\"Purpose\uff1a<\/strong> Mobile phones today come with an increasing number of functions such as communications, Internet access, camera, sound recording… They can do practically everything that the other tools do. There are even post-it note apps available for download online. Just carry a multi-purpose mobile phone and most creativity tools will be at your finger tips. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tCreativity Tool 5 – Computer<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\n\t\tPurpose<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong>The computer is the most power tool for generating ideas. It can be used to collect, store and create information. We can go online to collect data, store the data on the computer then use them to produce presentations or documents. Voice recordings, photos and text must all be uploaded to the computer for processing in the end so the computer is the "Treasure House of Creativity".<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tAdvantage<\/strong>\uff1a<\/strong> Can collect, store and create information.<\/span><\/p>\n
