The Posture of Happiness

Everyone has a posture of happiness, it doesn’t need to be anything extravagant. Sometimes it may be wrapping arms in front of the chest, and looking at your completed task. Sometimes it may be a light smile or looking at your loved one and laugh from the bottom of your heart. “Doing what you love and living in peace” is exactly the posture of happiness!

When Albert said to the media who came to the press conference, “Running this kindergarten, I care first and foremost about our ‘stance on education’. I hope that GamaGarden, like Gamania, could share the same spirit—always dare to make attempts, and free from any restrictions… ” I saw the posture of happiness for a man who is willing to pursue an idea and fulfill a promise.

When Linus replied questions raised by media, “I’ve made numerous visits to all the kindergarten nearby and renowned child education institutions…” I saw the posture of happiness for a man who carried through his given task and completed it with success.

When Teacher Ann-Ann introduced the ‘children theater’ designed for the kids, “…it is a creative, experimental theater but also a teaching theater. It provides the teachers with a space to express and execute their ideas, and children with infinite anticipation and memories…” I saw the posture of happiness for a person who continuously creates for the benefit of children.

Teacher Ann-Ann.

When principal of GamaGarden talked about her education idea, “…we believe kids should have the ability to actively explore and experience. They are just about to grow up, what we should do is not to stick a bunch of knowledge in them, but find out an appropriate way for them to learn. We hope that kids could accumulate experience in life, discover interests through games, develop potentials, and experience and care about people and things around them. These courses were designed by professional teachers and we even sought help from experts to educate these teachers…” I saw the posture of happiness for a person who studies her expertise, inviting experts and teachers to give the children a best learning environment.

These are other teachers from GamaGarden, for example, teacher Jin who loves to tell a good story, and teacher Peggy who loves activities and play with kids. They all exhibit the posture of happiness because they love children and love what they do.

Corner Learning: Discover Kids’ Potential

GamaGarden’s professional teaching partner is Health Grow Foundation, founded in 1983 and with no. 1 rating received from ministry of education in Taiwan. The Foundation co-planned a children TV Show, ‘Popcorn’ in 1985 with Kuangchi Program Service and is the first TV show produced for pre-school children by Taiwan Public Television Service in Taiwan. The show ran for 5 years and received an honor of ‘Best Children TV Show’ from Government Information Office. In 1987, the Foundation officially submitted application for establishing Shiny Shoes Children Theater from Department of Education. Through professional performing team, they inspire children’s imagination, oral and physical expression through stories and drama. In addition, their ‘Corner Learning’ activity broke the age boundary for classes, emphasizing on teachers’ observation of children’s interest and potential. They hope to guide and inspire children to actively explore and probe. Healthy Grow Kindergarten focuses on cultivating children’s proactive learning attitude and social ability. Teachers would arrange different subjects in different ‘corners’ according to specific needs of children’s development, such as drama, science, art, music, building blocks, language or intelligent games etc, so that children may freely choose any corner and learn during specific time period. The teacher’s role is the designer of this learning environment, an observer of on-going activity and a guide. We accompany children to find ‘themselves’ and enable each and one of them to develop without restrictions instead of rushing them to grow up.
Through thematic corner teaching, they discover children’s potential abilities.

Find Interest and Potential From Games

“Children education is the fundamental of all education.” The Foundation is very cautious of their teaching attitude. We believe that all children need to learn, from thinking, rationale, language, even emotional and social relationship exist in the process of ‘activities’ and in the observation and comparison. Therefore, we advocate teaching from a constructive and creative angle, to satisfy children’s needs and to give them a real-life learning scenario. We hope they discover interest, develop potential, and experience and care about people and things around them through games. In addition, we also remind ourselves that although disciplines and routines may be important to apply to kids, what we really need to focus on is individual quality and their special learning demands. We focus on children’s holistic growth, you can’t judge a kid by his/her ‘performance’. We are opposed to giving children too much stress and rushing them through their deserved childhood.

To provide kids with the most nutritious meals, GamaGarden designed different meals every day. We also adopted stainless steel as the material for tableware which would be cleaned through high-temperature sterilization.
In fact, we believe there will be more postures of happiness happening in GamaGarden because this is a place guarded by so many people of bliss. There are so many mini-postures of happiness everywhere in the GamaGarden: a kid is concentrating on shoveling sand in the sand box; a kid taking a nap after playing; children who perform in the theater for the first time; children who happily wait for their parents to pick them up and go home after school… Gamania is the place full of force of happiness and such force is congregating in our GamaGarden to nurture these new lives!
