Wan-Yi, Fou, “To play is to create greater work energy!”

▲Deputy-Manager of Division 1, Game Operation Department GTW

If you know even just a little bit about Gamanian, you’d probably know why operation units in GTW are the craziest among all the departments. Why it that? Is it because they’re usually stressful? The deputy manager of division 1, operation department, Wan-Yi, Fou doesn’t think so (Although it is a fact). She told G!Voice that, “Playing hard is to bring grater work energy.”

When asked about her view about work and play, she said, “Work Hard and Play Harder.”

Fervency Brings one a Sense of Achievement

She said the team and herself would put all their efforts into overcoming the challenges faced in each project. Of course, things they deal with may be trifling and tiring but what impresses everyone the most is the atmosphere where every member is persistent and indomitable in pursuing the same goal. She smiled and said, “It’s nothing if it’s just one person who is passionate about something. The most fulfilling experience comes from bringing out and that passion from a group of people.”

She always tries to make time for fun after work. She mentioned during one Gamania Festival, she and the team were running “Bright Shadow (a theme game that features various ghosts and monsters).” “I mobilized the whole department to decorate the office as a large haunted maze and the scale could even compete with the real haunted house facility in Janfusan amusement park. Each colleague dressed up as different ghost or monster. The lights in the office were turned off and the front door was decorated as the entrance of the maze. We used black cloth to line out a ‘scary route’ which caused quite a sensation in the company. Many Gamanians came to see what was going on after they heard about it.” Fou was the mastermind behind the project, “horror maze.”

Inspire Creativity in a Fun and Playful Atmosphere

Fou also wishes to inspire creativity in a fun and playful atmosphere during work process. “I’d like to take the team to Café outside when we need to brain storm so that people can be more relaxed and discuss things in an more unrestrained manner. Many great ideas about operation were popped up during then.”

Fou considers brainstorming for ideas and trying out new methods to be a kind of fun, because the challenge and the thrill to overcome it through ways in which they have never done before is in itself interesting. She said, “My attitude towards work and play in Gamania is simple – spare no effort on pursuing glory during work; laughing out loud when you’re having fun. This is how you store more energy for the next tough battle.”

▲The operation team gathered in the Comic-Con Festival in the NTU Gymnasium for the pre-launch of new product “Divina”.

▲The team was running “Bright shadow” then, so Fou decided to let the team dress up as ghost and monster costumes and appeared at Gamania Festival.
