For September’s feature activity, Gamania Mobilization, Gamania invited the pride of Taiwan cinematography, director, Lin Yu-Hsien (a.k.a Ah-Meow Lin) to give a speech on how he accomplished his dream and how he faced frustration and setbacks with all Gamanians.
The Birth of the Documentary, Jump!Boys
Ah-Meow Lin once faced the plight of unemployment when he was younger. Without any financial support, he had no way but to head back to hometown and seek aid from his family. He had no other better things to do then so he took a camera and went to the local elementary school everyday to film the gymnastics team there. The team was led and documented little by little by Lin through various activities and that was the birth of this documentary film Jump! Boys
Setbacks, thank you for visiting so early!
Director Ah-Meow Lin had his first taste of success in 2005 for the movie, Jump! Boys and that spurred on his courage to make his next film. However, the success and all that came with didn’t last long. Being over-confident, he tasted his first setback and failure filming “Exit 6” in 2006 and subsequently began his debt-ridden life.
Although facing such adverse situation, an incident turned Ah-Meow Lin’s negative perception around. He didn’t give up the dream to make films but actively seeking any opportunity to work around it. Due to his effort and conviction, Jump! Ashin became another success! Lin encouraged every Gamanian to turn the negative energy into positive because that would make a life difference!
