What is Courage? An Interview with Dream Island’s Albert

Albert: The Elements of Courage – Breaking the Norm and Making Ideas a Reality

Albert: “I believe that courage requires several basic elements. The first is that you must be willing to set a goal for yourself that takes you out of your comfort zone. To put it simply, you must dare to dream. This goal must exceed what you believe your current capabilities are. The second element is realizing this goal. You must be able to actually stand up, take the first step forward and begin the journey to achieving your goal. You must dare to dream and then be willing to make that dream a reality. This process is the driving force of courage.”

The Tenacity of Pursuing Dreams

Albert – a leader at Gamania – led a cycling team on a trip around the island. He encouraged and kept up the team’s spirit. His positive attitude helped the entire team complete the journey despite the sweat and tears! Albert says that by leading this group of students on their cycling trip, he was able to see the tenacity in each of the young people. He also saw that attitude is everything when trying to reach your goals. He didn’t see any signs of lack of drive in the team members and was very pleased by this. During the trip around the island, he saw some students, who didn’t fully grasp the concept of teamwork, but he then witnessed them gradually change their attitude and embrace working in a team. It was an extremely rewarding experience. Seeing the achievements of these students makes Albert believe that there is a lot of potential in this generation of young Taiwanese people!

TRY IT & DO IT

Youth is a very small part of our lives and it is a time when creativity and motivation are at their best. Albert hopes that, through the foundation’s activities, this group of young people will learn to not waste their youth. He also expects the students to develop the courage and motivation to take that first step forward while they are here. Often when we set goals or have dreams, we are afraid to move forward and we don’t push ourselves. Albert hopes that the foundation’s programs will make the students understand that it is worth making the effort to try. He also wants the students to learn how to not give up once they are on their way to their goals. Keep at it and move forward. Perhaps those extra few steps will make the result much better. These activities aim to develop the students’ confidence and give them the courage to pursue their goals.

The Gamania Cheer Up Foundation – A Positive Social Movement for this Generation

In the future, Albert hopes that the forward-thinking Gamania Cheer Up Foundation will have an influence on more young people and he looks forward to it becoming a stronger promoter of positive values in the youth of today. The foundation encourages young people to have the courage to accomplish things themselves and realize their goals. The main vision and objective of the Gamania Cheer Up Foundation is to become a positive social movement for this generation.
