Olympics 2012, the classic symbol of Olympics, the 5 interlaced Olympic rings hung high on London Bridge. These 5 rings represent the five inhabited continents of the world, united by Olympism and friendship, and formed a big ‘Olympic family’. The principle of fair competition eliminates the cultural difference and racial discrimination and therefore, Olympic Games become the ultimate honor indicator for athletes around the world.
When Gamanians challenge themselves and pursue honor, exactly what do they fight for? That’s right, they fight for Gamania. Every reformation, and the honor gained from contest were evidences of treating Gamania as the highest honor. At the moment of winning the award, we are proud of Gamania and of its ability to rewrite Gamania history. We celebrate when R&D wins any competition! In the meantime, what sort of unit is secretly constructing, the Gamania we came to know of? Gamania’s identification design is distinctive enough for everyone (Gamanian or otherwise) to see the spirit and pride of Gamania. With the global expansion, many subsidiaries have established and joined Gamania. With new ‘life force’ joining in, we need to let these people know about Gamania, and let them know they are one of our own. It is for this reason, the group must have a set of system and standard procedure to govern mother brand and subsidiary brands so that each direct or extended Gamanian is clear about the rules and norms of the brand.
Closely observing the logo designed by each Olympics hosting nation, many of their designs were based on the classic 5 rings elements. The spirit of 5 rings is like a gene, ingrained among the Olympic designs. What is the spirit and ‘gene’ of Gamanian spirit?
Almost every Olympics logo design adopted the 5 rings symbol or color combination. These elements symbolize the Olympic spirit.
Gamania Gene Rooted in Identification Design: Interview with Gamania Brand Director, Ahbin
Gamania’s core, from spirit to gene, all comes from the spirit of ‘born to play’.
Ahbin, “From the perspective of genetics, Gamania’s gene stems from the orange segment that can ‘walk’. The game industry is full of imagination. Our logo’s foot represents ‘hard worker’ and that Gamanians march forward in stride. The orange segment is to bring joy to all and therefore it’s shaped as a smile. Moreover, orange is the kind of fruit that is easy to share, just like the game we design, the more people play, the merrier. Gamania’s atmosphere is like what orange makes people feel: warm, joyful and humane. As more and more subsidiaries joined Gamania, Gamania as a Group needs to have a joint flag to deepen Gamanians’ sense of identity. In terms of the Group style, we need something more cautious and serious that reflects the operation of the company which is why the Group style has gradually morphed into something more neutral, strategic and managerial. On the other hand, the subsidiaries are represented in a more fun and merry way.” Ahbin explained further with the concept of genetics, “We inherit our parents’ looks, like how Chinese people call themselves ‘the descendent of Dragon’. From the identification point of view, when a company grows bigger, it must have a core value, in other words, its root or gene. Then based on this gene, it reproduces, breeds and extends into a corporate genealogy.”
The identification design of Gamania’s main enterprise inherited Gamania’s spirit and gene.
However, if Gamania’s ideal can be summed up merely by words and pictures, it cannot fully accentuate our uniqueness. Therefore, we must pass on our ideal, culture and spirit through the integral aspect of brand culture. Facing the global battle and with new talents rapidly joining in, we hope that through systemic passing on of glorious tales in Gamania and through communicating positive spirit to everyone, we could eventually turn the Gamania flag into the ultimate honor indicator that all Gamanians look up to.
